Fix: Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings

Resolution

Download sharedaccess.reg (you must right click this link and choose ‘Save Target As…’ or ‘Save Link As…’) and save to Desktop. Then double-click the file to merge the contents to the registry. After you double click it a message will appear asking if you are sure, choose ‘Yes’ or ‘OK.’  The Services entry will be created. Restart Windows (you must restart or the next steps will NOT work).

After restarting Windows:
Click Start > Run
Type ‘cmd’
click ‘OK’

In the window that appears, type ‘NETSH FIREWALL RESET’

Go to the Control Panel (Start > Control Panel) and double click ‘Windows Firewall’.  If you do not see ‘Windows Firewall’ click ‘Switch to Classic View’ in the top left corner of the Control Panel.  You should now be able to configure Windows Firewall’s settings.
