Windows XP Black and Blue Screens of Death
There are two solutions to this problem
The easiest is to perform an “overlay” installation of Windows XP. To do this, place your Windows Installation disc in the computer, restart your computer, and go through the steps of reinstalling Windows. When you get to the step asking you if you want to format, say no, and install Windows XP in the same place as it was (normally c:\windows\). This will replace all your system files but leave your saved documents in tact. You will have to fix all your personal settings and reinstall most programs, but at least your saved items won’t be gone.
If you are more daring, and want a challenge, you can delete your current registry and replace it with an old version. Microsoft has a nice tutorial on how to do this but only computer experts should try this method. For the tutorial, follow this link:
